Picture Elements (2001, 2013)

Television continuously feeds us with images in motion of different kinds that evoke different reactions, from action movies to melodramatic telenovelas. All these emotions are given to us by the perfect arrangement of red, green and blue dots of light.

This site-specific installation offers us with the light coming out of the TV in its brute form, its simplest kind. It takes us to a place where a building is simply occupied with light, and narrative is non-existent.

Originally presented in 2001 in a four-story building in Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, this installation was adapted in 2013 to the first floor of a large house over Main Street, Houston, TX.
